Shannon Smith

Shannon Smith is an Emmy-nominated morning anchor waking up Northeast Ohio every weekday on 19 News This Morning!

She’s no stranger to lake effect rain or snow! Before joining the 19 News Team in September 2020, Shannon was the weekend morning anchor/reporter on the other side of Lake Erie in Buffalo, NY.

Hailing from the south side of Chicago and the youngest of four girls, Shannon graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where she earned her degree in Broadcast Journalism.

She’s worked as a reporter in almost every time zone, starting her career at WIFR in Rockford, IL — with stops in Omaha, NE, and Fresno, CA.

Shannon currently covers everything from breaking news to human interest stories across Northeast Ohio. Her goal isn’t just to report a story and get answers, but to connect with viewers both on and off air. She wants to make sure people know there is GOOD news to share.

Shannon is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, a board member for the Cleveland Association of Broadcasters, and volunteers as a mentor with Minds Matter Cleveland. She’s a proud legacy member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and proud dog mom of a mini poodle mix, Sebastian. In her spare time, she loves to watch documentaries and reality tv shows like 90 Day Fiancé.
