Euclid, Ohio (WOIO) - There’s a possible solution to stop people speeding in school zones. You’ll be forced to slow down before the cops can hand you a ticket for going too fast.

Frank Macuga is a beloved crossing guard. He’s been keeping kids safe in Euclid for more than a decade.

Every morning Monday through Friday he stands at the crosswalk outside Bluestone Elementary School.

“Well, I think it was just people going too fast,” said Macuga.

Euclid officials said they installed islands in the middle of the street.

The hope is that cars will slow down, and the commute to school for kids will be safer.

“I think that people are a little more conscientious, and they go a little slower,” said Macuga.
