CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Deshaun Watson did not practice for the second straight day Thursday, making it unlikely he can start Sunday against San Francisco.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski named P.J. Walker the backup earlier this week, meaning he would start if Watson can’t recover from his shoulder injury.

Walker was undrafted out of Temple in 2017 and has a 4-3 NFL record with 5 TD passes and 11 interceptions.

Ironically, 2 of those 4 wins came as a fill-in for Baker Mayfield with Carolina.

Stefanski did not talk to reporters; he usually skips Thursdays to allow his coordinators to talk.

Offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt said of a potential Watson absence Sunday: “It’s challenging for sure but that’s part of our business, it’s nothing new.”
